Art and Design Dept.
Role: creative direction, layout, design
As the student worker for the Art and Design Department at Columbia College Chicago, I contributed to a range of creative projects that enhanced department workshops, events and communications. Below are a few key projects that showcase my design work and problem solving skills, reflecting my commitment to supporting the department's initiatives and celebrating its vibrant community.
Course Posters
Tasked with designing a series of posters to promote upcoming courses, I identified issues with the previous designs, such as a lack of clear hierarchy and a cluttered layout. To resolve this, I developed a new, streamlined template format that not only addressed these issues but also offered flexibility for future student workers to expand and build upon.

Derby Race 2024
Each May, Columbia’s Manifest festival showcases student creativity. A key event is the Derby Race, where custom-built derby cars race down a track designed by the Makerspace team, competing for prizes and trophies. For the event, I designed a series of promotional materials, including a set of three posters showcasing a mix of cars—from creative, custom-built designs by Columbia staff to world-renowned Formula 1 and NASCAR machines. Additionally, I created social media posts, entry forms, and voting ballots to support the event.
ILLO Awards 2024
The ILLO Awards is an annual event during Columbia College Chicago’s Manifest festival, hosted by the Illustration program to recognize outstanding illustration work. Shining a light on the best creative talent, ILLOs showcases exceptional projects from students, alumni, and faculty across more than 20 categories, including 'First Year Future Star,' 'Best Sketchbook,' 'Faculty of the Year,' and 'Alumni of the Year.' For this event, I designed a custom backdrop used for photos by attendees to help create a memorable and celebratory atmosphere.
Aesthete of The Month
The Aesthete of the Month is a recognition given to faculty, staff, and students for their creativity and contributions to the department. The first edition of the t-shirt design parodies Dungeons & Dragons, cleverly reimagined as 'A&D' for the Art and Design department. The second edition features a playful pirate theme, with the phrase 'Arrr and Design' as a fun twist on words. These custom t-shirts were awarded to nominees, providing a unique and lighthearted way to celebrate their achievements within Columbia’s community.
